Our Story

“For me, the most important thing in skincare is that I treat it with natural products - free from anything artificial or chemical. I do the same with my health and with the food I eat”.

Camilla Sherr, Clil Co-Founder

Clil Botanicals – Skincare With a Homoeopathic Philosophy

Created by Camilla Sherr, Founding Director of Homoeopathy for Health in Africa, and colleague Michal Agami. Camilla and Michal used to muse about the philosophy of skin care – how skin, that is naturally oily, should be treated with oils, ‘like with like’ – just like in homoeopathy.

But it wasn’t until Camilla sourced the amazing, wild harvested, cold pressed Baobab and Moringa oils in Tanzania, East Africa, that the dream of skin care with a philosophy started to take shape.

The Clil range spans from cleansing oil, facial oils and powerful serums to remedial oils and homoeopathic sprays.

CLIL SUSTAINABILITY & PACKAGING

With organic skincare the problem is, that without preservatives they go rancid very quickly. At Clil, our oils have a shelf life of 2-3 years, and we have further enhanced this by using biophotonic, recyclable Miron glass bottles which protect from exposure to sunlight and heat.

At Clil, we carefully assesses the quality of each ingredient that we use in our formulations. We use a combination of organic and wild-harvested 100% pure, cold-pressed oils, essential oils and sustainably sourced raw gemstones.

Oil-based products help strengthen your skin's protective lipid barrier, which protects inner layers of skin from pollution, dry air and UV rays. Oils also seal in moisture, soothe sensitive skin, and create a lovely sensual texture.

Empowering local Communities

Nurturing Sustainability and Healing with Homoeopathy

Our oils are locally sourced in Tanzania, empowering women in making a livelihood and decreasing poverty.

Our profit goes to Homeopathy for Health in Africa’s Sustainable Lives Program and treating the poor with Homoeopathy.

“The morning after Baobab cleanser my skin feels silky and I have less dark circles under my eyes. My skin looks rested and healthy.”

WHY OIL?

While it's true that our bodies need water, our skin doesn’t. The skin is impermeable, meaning it cannot absorb water – the main ingredient in most skincare.

At Clil, we are firm believers in the benefits of oil-based skincare, and not just because of personal preference. Evidence has shown that it is a much more effective and sustainable approach to achieving healthy, clean, and radiant skin. After all, our skin is naturally oily!

By avoiding water in our products, we eliminate the need for synthetic preservatives and additives that can be absorbed by your skin and the environment. Waterless products are also more concentrated and pure, with no need for dilution. In contrast, traditional water-based creams are typically made up of 90% water.

In addition to being better for your skin, waterless skincare is also more environmentally friendly. By conserving water, we're doing our part to help protect this precious resource.

At Clil, we rely on the nourishing properties of natural oils to capture and store the goodness of botanical ingredients.

Contrary to popular belief, oil-based products are suitable for all skin types, including oily skin. They can even help to regulate and balance the overproduction of oil, promoting healthier, clearer skin.

Rubies & Roses

Raw rubies are known for their strengthening and nourishing properties, which smooth out wrinkles and create a radiant glow. They add moisturizing power to your skincare routine by restoring hydration levels for a glowing, plump complexion. Rubies are also believed to boost self-esteem and help with concentration and motivation,

Rose essential oil is famous for its moisturizing, hydrating, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties further reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while promoting relaxation and a sense of luxurious well-being.
